NATO Defense Ministers decided to consider the deployment of new battlegroups in Romania. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, TASS reports.
“The ministers decided to consider new options, including the deployment of new battle groups in the eastern and southeastern parts, in particular in Romania. I welcome the initiative of France to lead this group,” said the head of NATO.
Stoltenberg also said that there is still no final decision on the configuration, size and timing of the deployment of future battle groups. However, he stressed that Romania is ready to accept the NATO grouping.
Earlier, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova spoke about the deployment of NATO troops in Romania. According to her, the leadership of the alliance has long planned the militarization of the Black Sea in order to turn this region into an arena for geopolitics.
