NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg turned to Russia on Victory Day over Nazism. He called on Kremlin head Vladimir Putin to stop the war in Ukraine, Die Welt reports.
“I once again call on President Putin on May 9 to immediately stop the war, withdraw his troops from Ukraine and start peace talks,” the secretary general said.
At the same time, Stoltenberg noted that the Alliance “stands on the side of Ukraine and will defend the right to self-defense.”
At the same time, the Secretary General stressed that Moscow had regularly used Memorial Day in the past May 9 to “spread lies about the West and criticize NATO.”
“I expect Putin to spread lies about NATO and the West in general again on May 9 this year,” he added.
