The North Atlantic Alliance is experiencing some optimism in connection with the signals coming from Russia to continue the diplomatic settlement of the situation in Ukraine. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, reports TASS.
At the same time, the Secretary General stressed that NATO does not yet see real signs of a de-escalation of tension around Ukraine. According to Stoltenberg, the member countries of the alliance are ready to hold a series of joint meetings with Moscow on the topic of Ukraine and arms control.
The Secretary General also said that on February 16-17, the defense ministers of the NATO member states will discuss the security situation in the Black Sea region with their counterparts from Georgia and Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian International Affairs Council saw hope for the continuation of the negotiation process with NATO on security. At the same time, it was noted that Russia cannot be satisfied with the responses of the United States and NATO to their proposals in the current political situation.
