National flavor: the harvest festival Mehrgon is celebrated in Tajikistan
In Tajikistan, they celebrate the harvest festival or, as it is also called, “Idi Mehrgon”. This is one of the main and oldest holidays in the country, MIR 24 reports.
“We are slowly reviving our ancient culture. Already today, the harvest festival in the country is celebrated on a large scale. In the foreseeable future, I think it will become a visiting card of our country along with the Navruz holiday, ”said Ekubjon Urokov, an employee of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
“At this holiday I saw how rich our culture is. We are a small country, but each of our regions has its own characteristics. And our national clothes are works of art. Just look! ” – shared a guest from Khujand Rustam Sherov.
This year, the celebration was held in one of the parks in Dushanbe, where farmers from all over the republic demonstrated their harvest. So that no one left hungry from the holiday, the organizers laid large tables with national dishes. At the end, the guests were treated to a festive concert with national dances. The rice festival was also celebrated at the festival. Farmers from all over the country brought more than 30 varieties of these cereals to Dushanbe.
