Two other companies that participated in the tender have challenged the decision to entrust the € 2.9 billion contract to Space X. Work has been halted pending settlement of the dispute.

NASA has suspended a contract with SpaceX for the development and creation of a lunar lander worth about 2.9 billion euros. This was announced on Friday, April 30, by the official representative of NASA Monica Witt.
The suspension is due to the fact that other bidders – Blue Origin and Dynetics – have challenged the General Office of Control of the United States against the decision to give the execution of the contract to SpaceX. The work will now be halted until the office completes its grievance review, with disputes expected to be resolved in early August.
NASA announced the Artemis lunar program project in the spring of 2019. It includes the unmanned flight of the Orion spacecraft around the moon and its return to Earth, then a flight around the moon with a crew on board and after the landing of astronauts in 2024. Russia refused to participate in the joint lunar program. NASA plans to land on Mars in the mid-2030s.
