The Perseverance rover is on the Red Planet for various explorations. But one of its main tasks is to find confirmation that life once existed on Mars. In one of the “shifts” Perseverance made a video of the sky, which captured one of the satellites of Mars, Deimos.
The video is accompanied by the message: “Observing the sky is fun wherever you are. I shot this short time-lapse to watch the clouds, and I caught something else: take a closer look and you will see Deimos, one of the two moons of Mars. ” The video and message were posted on the official NASA Twitter channel.
According to many astronomers, Deimos is an asteroid that fell under the influence of Martian gravity, like the second moon of Mars, Phobos.
Sky watching is fun no matter where you are. I took this short time lapse movie to watch for clouds, and caught something else: look closely and you'll see Deimos, one of two moons of Mars.
