NASA is preparing an agreement with Roscosmos on cross-flights, under which a Russian cosmonaut will be able to fly into space on the American spacecraft Crew Dragon. This was announced by the head of the NASA program on the ISS, Joel Montalbano, during the press conference of the Crew Dragon-3 mission.

Montalbano said that negotiations on cross-flights took place last week in Moscow. At the moment, the relevant documents are at the final stage of preparation and soon “Roskosmos” will submit them to the Russian authorities for consideration.

“Our goal is in the fall of 2022 to have a (Russian – IF) cosmonaut as part of the Dragon Crew-5 mission and, under the contract, free of charge, at the same time period to have an American on Soyuz,” Montalbano said.

As the site kp.ru previously wrote, as the head of the manned flights program of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States (NASA) Katie Luders said, the operation of the International Space Station can be extended for at least another ten years.
