An interesting video has appeared on the network, which captures the assembly process of the newest supersonic passenger aircraft X-59 Quiet SuperSonic Technology (QueSST). He is even better known as the “Son of Concorde”.
The development of new items was ordered by NASA several years ago. Lockheed Martin was selected as the contractor. According to the Daily Mail, a distinctive feature of the aircraft is its design. Thanks to it, the aircraft will be able to prevent the amazing sonic booms that are usually heard when flying supersonic aircraft.
In the video released, you can see how specialists assemble the X-59 fuselage with a cockpit and a 29.5-foot wing. Some of the Son of Concorde's control systems can also be seen.
Recall that $ 247.5 million was allocated for the creation of the aircraft. The end of its development is scheduled for 2021, and already in 2022, the first test flights should take place.
