Moscow. August 13. INTERFAX.RU – NASA considers the version that the hole in the Soyuz spacecraft docked to the ISS in 2018 was drilled by an American astronaut is not credible, a spokesman for the agency said during a briefing.
“NASA astronauts carry out missions with professionalism, they are very respected people who make an incredible contribution to the name of the country …. I believe, more precisely, we believe that the astronauts' behavior is professional, and we do not find these accusations to be credible,” he said …
On the night of August 30, 2018, an air leak was detected on the ISS. The crew checked all the compartments and found a drill hole in the Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft. The hole was located in the utility compartment, and not in the descent vehicle, therefore it did not threaten the return of the spacecraft to Earth.
Later, Russian cosmonauts injected a sealant into the holes discovered and closed them with patches, then using ultrasound they confirmed that there was no air leak. The media reported that Roscosmos is considering the deliberate actions of American astronauts as one of the versions of the hole's appearance.
