Thomas Tsurbuchen, deputy scientific director of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), congratulated China on the successful landing of Tianwen 1 on Mars. He posted the corresponding message on Twitter.

“Congratulations to the CNSA # Tianwen1 team on the successful landing of China's first Mars exploration rover,” the message says.

Zurbuchen also expressed the hope that this study will make an important contribution to the study of the Red Planet.

Earlier, Xinhua, citing the National Space Administration, reported that the Chinese Tianwen 1 spacecraft landed on the surface of Mars.

The agency wrote that the landing was extremely difficult due to the lack of ground control, the ship conducted it autonomously.

The Chinese spacecraft entered Mars orbit in February. For over two months he researched potential landing sites.

In July 2020, NASA launched the Perseverance rover on an Atlas V rocket. It reached its destination in February and conducted its first test drive in early March. His goal is to search for life in the Jezero crater, collect samples of rocks and sediments, and study the climate of Mars. At the end of April, the device received oxygen from the planet's atmosphere for the first time.
