NASA's deputy chief scientific officer, Thomas Zurbuchen, reacted to the successful landing on the surface of Mars of the unmanned spacecraft Tianwen 1, launched by China last year.

“Congratulations to the CNSA (China National Space Administration) team on the successful landing of China's first rover,” the NASA deputy chief wrote on his Twitter page.

Zurbuchen expressed the hope that the landing of the Chinese probe will make an important contribution to the exploration of Mars and “to humanity's understanding of the Red Planet.”

As the website kp.ru wrote, on the night of Saturday, May 15, China for the first time in its history landed its space probe on another planet. According to plans, after a while a six-wheeled Mars rover called “Chzhurong” (“God of Fire”) should separate from the orbiter, which will begin to study the surface of the Red Planet.
