Xiaomi will release a gaming smartphone that will be available at a reasonable price. This is reported by the Chinese edition of MyDrivers with reference to the head of Xiaomi Lu Weibing (Lu Weibing).
A top manager of the company said in his social networks that the subsidiary brand Redmi will introduce a gaming smartphone. Weibing revealed that the device will receive the flagship Dimensity 1200 processor, manufactured using a six-nanometer process technology. The journalists clarified that the chip has eight cores, the main of which – Cortex-A78 – operate at a frequency of 3000 megahertz. Also, the processor will feature MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 technology, which provides increased gaming performance.
Weibing called the upcoming smartphone “incredibly attractive” in terms of price. This means that the device will be targeted at a wide range of consumers. The entrepreneur also revealed another characteristic of the gadget – a flat AMOLED display from Samsung. In conclusion, Lu Weibing noted that the prototype of the device had already passed the first tests in which the device showed “excellent performance.”
The device will be announced in March. The journalists stressed that Redmi, unlike the parent company Xiaomi, focuses on the middle and low price segments. Between Q4 2019 and Q3 2020, the company invested over $ 1.3 billion in R&D.
In January, Lu Weibing announced that Redmi intends to focus on esports in 2021. The company is going to release several gaming smartphones with different performance and affordable prices.
