The Il-96 flight from Moscow to Washington caused a stir; no explanations have yet been received from governments.

The Russian government aircraft Il-96 with tail number RA-96018, belonging to the special flight squadron “Russia”, made an unexpected trip to the United States.

Flight data was published by Flightradar24.

The plane, usually used to transport Russian officials, was likely carrying a delegation, but neither Moscow nor Washington has officially confirmed any visit.

It is known that the plane took off from Moscow, after which it made a short stop in St. Petersburg. Then the plane headed to the United States, where it landed at two major airports.

The first point was New York – the plane landed at 15:27 local time (22:27 Kyiv time).

There were no public statements about official meetings or negotiations with the Russian delegation in the United States.

Recall that Donald Trump recently stated that Vladimir Putin called on the phone and offered US assistance regarding Iran amid possible territorial ambitions.

“He called the other day and said, 'Can I help you with Iran?' I said, 'No, you can't help me with Russia. Because, you know, we've taken care of India and Pakistan in the last few weeks…'” Trump commented.

It is also known that Vladimir Putin, wanted by the International Criminal Court on suspicion of committing a war crime, will not personally attend the BRICS summit in Brazil. In Rio de Janeiro, where the leaders of the association will meet on July 6-7, the Russian leader may face arrest.

A Kremlin spokesman explained that the Brazilian authorities had not provided sufficient guarantees to allow Putin to take part in the offline event. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will travel to Brazil instead.
