American billionaire Elon Musk expressed confidence in the ability of his company SpaceX to achieve its goals to colonize Mars in the near future, despite obvious obstacles and risks. He said he envisions a future in which space travel between planets will become routine and his company will play a key role.
He spoke about this at a recent presentation at Starbase near Boca Chica (Texas), a video of which SpaceX published on social networks on April 6.
In particular, Musk detailed plans to refuel spacecraft in orbit before flying to Mars, and also emphasized the importance of choosing proper landing sites on the Red Planet – with enough atmosphere and sunlight to maintain constant habitation of people.
The main part of the presentation was devoted to testing the Starship system, which, according to his plan, should become the main vehicle for interplanetary flights.
The fourth test flight should take place in about a month. Its task is to evaluate the performance of Starship during entry into the atmosphere and controlled descent into the ocean.
According to SpaceX's plans, the Super Heavy rocket should land at the launch site. First, a virtual tower in the Gulf of Mexico will be used, and if successful, SpaceX will attempt a real landing using the Mechazilla robotic arms, a special catch tower for launch vehicles.

According to Musk, next year SpaceX will be able to reuse the Starship ship in one of the space flights.
Recall that on March 14 of this year, Elon Musk’s super rocket successfully took to the skies and entered orbit after two previous flights ended in explosions almost immediately after launch.
