The billionaire’s biographer claims that Musk thus sought to disassociate himself from the Russian war against Ukraine.

American billionaire Elon Musk transferred under the control of the Pentagon a certain amount of equipment and services of the Starlink satellite network.

This was stated by the biographer of the billionaire Walter Isaacson, reports The Washington Post.

Isaacson claims that Musk thus sought to distance himself from Russia's war against Ukraine, because he feared that the use of SpaceX technology could lead to a nuclear war.

“He said: “Why am I in this war? I created Starlink so people could relax, watch movies on Netflix and play video games. I didn’t want to create something that could lead to a nuclear war,” Musk’s biographer quoted him as saying.

The scandal with Musk and Starlink

Recall that Isaacson previously said that in 2022, Musk ordered the shutdown of Starlink near occupied Crimea in order to thwart a Ukrainian attack on the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The billionaire was allegedly afraid that the Russians would use nuclear weapons in response.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, confirmed that Starlink Internet did not work for some time near Crimea in 2022. At the same time, he denied that this was Musk’s order.
