Musk Accuses Britain of Tolerance to Pedophiles: What Angered the Billionaire

The American billionaire was not invited to the summit, allegedly because of his provocative publications on the X platform.

On Thursday, September 26, American billionaire Elon Musk criticized Britain after it became known that he would not be invited to the upcoming investment summit. He said that the London government is releasing convicted pedophiles and arresting people for social media posts.

This was reported by Reuters.

Earlier, the British publication BBC reported that the American billionaire was not invited to the summit because of his post on the X platform, which he owns, regarding the violent and racist riots against immigrants in Britain that occurred in August.

In particular, Elon Musk spread conspiracy theories that the British government is allegedly building “camps on the Falkland Islands for people detained during the riots.” He also wrote that a civil war in Britain was “inevitable.”

A spokesman for British Prime Minister Starmer then said there was “no justification” for such comments. More than 1,000 arrests have been made in connection with the riots, with some people jailed for inciting racial hatred on social media.

The American billionaire responded to the information that he will not be invited to an investment summit attended by the leaders of global tech and financial groups, including BNY Mellon and Blackstone, with a new attack on the British government.

“I don't think anyone should go to the UK when they are releasing convicted paedophiles to jail people for social media posts,” Musk wrote on X in response to the BBC publication.

In Britain, more than 1,700 prisoners were indeed released earlier this month during the Labour government's attempts Prime Minister Keir Starmer to address prison overcrowding in England and Wales. However, the program did not include those serving sentences for sex crimes.

Recall that earlier the US Secret Service began an investigation of businessman Elon Musk after his “joking” message about possible assassination attempts on President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
