Local authorities have closed the investigation, handing over the case to a special unit of the Spanish Civil Guard
A former KGB officer and a colonel of the Russian police.
This information was provided by the CBS publication, citing its own sources.
The publication writes that the crime took place in the municipality of Villajoyosa, where Kuzminov was shot, but local authorities stopped the investigation, handing over the case to a special unit of the Spanish Civil Guard.
A source close to the investigation provided photographs of men who, according to them, were identified by the Spanish authorities as “persons of interest” and were in Spain at the time of Kuzminov's murder. Journalists learned that one of the men is a former Russian KGB officer, and the other is his relative – a colonel of the Russian police. This is further evidence that the Russian government may be involved.
CCTV cameras captured the murder, showing the two killers entering the garage and hiding in the backseat of their car behind the tinted glass. They waited five hours for Kuzminov to show up in his parking space, and then shot him.
After moving to Spain, according to a neighbor, Kuzminov did not lead a quiet life, often spending time in a local bar, where he openly spoke about his identity.
Kuzminov is buried in an unmarked grave in the south of Spain, the TV channel's source notes.
Recall that in February, in one of the areas of the resort municipality of Villajoyosa in the Spanish province of Alicante, 28-year-old Russian pilot Maxim Kuzminov, known for his cooperation with GUR.
