The head of the Russian Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, and the head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, discussed the use of the Sputnik V vaccine. This was reported by the press service of the Russian ministry, RIA Novosti reports.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the WHO's consideration of the application for the inclusion of the Russian vaccine in the list of drugs that are approved for use in emergency situations.
The department recalled that the drug forms a stable immunity to coronavirus and has no serious side effects. “The vaccine has essentially become a world bestseller,” they stressed.
The Sputnik V vaccine has become the second most popular coronavirus vaccine in the world. The first place in terms of the number of approvals was given to the drug AstraZeneca, licensed in 49 countries. The third line is occupied by Pfizer – 43 countries have approved the vaccine.
