Alexander Lukashenko said that German Chancellor Angela Merkel recognizes him as the president of Belarus, because during the negotiations she addressed him exclusively as “Mr. President”.
He told about this in an interview for the BBC, a video clip of which was published by the Telegram channel “Pool of the First”.

The self-proclaimed president assures that he does not care at all about the West's views on the legitimacy of the authorities in Belarus.
“Mr. President in Belarus is Mr. Lukashenko. Listen, I don't care what you think about the President of Belarus in the European Union. I was not elected by the European Union. You haven't recognized me for a quarter of a century. I am elected by the Belarusian people, “he added.
Earlier, the German media learned details of the conversation between Angela Merkel and Alexander Lukashenko. Lukashenko allegedly demanded that Merkel be officially recognized as president. At the same time, the press service of the German Chancellor indicated that she spoke with “Mr. Lukashenko” and not with the President of Belarus.
