Johann Zarco is the new lap record holder in Spielberg. Jorge Martin won the first MotoGP race last week and has broken his record again.
MotoGP reacted to the Styrian Grand Prix and Dani Pedrosa and Lorenzo Savadori's fire accident and changed the layout of the track. The new chicane in the area of turn two will be used for the first time at the Red Bull Ring in 2022.
This weekend, the riders of the motorcycle premier class race again on the traditional route profile. Johann Zarco shows himself particularly quickly. The Frenchman was the fastest in training on Friday and set a new lap record with his best time. The Ducati driver completes the Spielberg lap in 1: 22.827 minutes, improving Jorge Martin's time from the previous week.
Zarco clearly sets the tone in training. The runner-up Joan Mir does not come close to the fastest time on his Suzuki (1: 23.625 minutes). Last year's winner Maguel Oliveira, as the best KTM rider, did not get past 15th place during training on the home track of his racing team.
