New, specific strains of coronavirus could appear in Moscow. This was after the ceremony of presenting state awards in the Kremlin, said the deputy director of the Center. Gamalei Denis Logunov.
“Now we are monitoring [the situation] in Moscow, and most importantly, Moscow may still have its own Moscow strains,” he said during a conversation with President Vladimir Putin (quoted by TASS).
According to the scientist, not all strains of coronavirus are dangerous, but it is still necessary to monitor the changes, “to work ahead, to identify, if anything, to adapt, to make new variants of the vaccine, as it happens with the flu.”
As an example, Logunov cited the Indian strain of the coronavirus. He has two mutations that are not critical, but significantly (that is, two to three times) reduce the activity of sera in vaccinated and recovered patients, said the deputy head of the center.
In Moscow, due to an increase in the incidence (on Saturday, the headquarters reported 6.7 thousand infected per day – the maximum since December last year), it was decided to extend the weekend until June 20, declaring non-working days from June 15 to June 19. In addition, for the period from 13 to 20 June in the capital, from 23:00 to 06:00, the work of catering, entertainment and entertainment events in nightclubs, bars and karaoke will be suspended.
