Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology entered the TOP-100 of THE subject ranking in computer science

LONDON, 6 October. / TASS /. The Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) entered the top 100 of the Computer Science subject ranking according to the British Times Higher Education (THE) magazine. This is stated in a study published on Wednesday.

MIPT took 71st place, a year earlier it was in 91st position. This time, 891 universities from 75 countries of the world are represented in the subject ranking, among which 23 universities are Russian. The first place, as well as last year, belongs to the British University of Oxford. Six of the top ten institutions of higher education are located in the United States, two in the United Kingdom. Other regions in the top 10 are represented by the Swiss Higher Technical School of Zurich and the National University of Singapore.

In the section “Engineering and Technology” in the ranking 50 universities from Russia are presented, and the highest position belongs to the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (the group of universities from 201 to 250 th position). They are followed by the Don State Technical University and the Russian Economic University named after G.V. Plekhanov (301-400), which were included in the rating for the first time, as well as the National Research University ITMO and Tomsk State University (301-400).

A total of 1,188 universities from 85 countries are represented in this section. Six of the top ten educational institutions are located in the United States, two in the United Kingdom, and two more in Switzerland and Singapore. The first place, as in the previous year, is taken by Harvard University from the United States.

When compiling THE subject rankings, the same 13 performance indicators are used as in the global institutional ranking, they are grouped into five areas: teaching (learning environment), research (volume, income and reputation), citations (research impact), international interaction (employees , students and research), income from production activities (knowledge transfer).
