Moscow does not see a problem if Deutsche Welle journalists come to Russia as part of a delegation led by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the YouTube channel “Solovyov Live”.
“Of course, what problems. As correspondents, they can enter on short business trips. As part of the delegations of their leaders who finance them, in any form,” she explained. The diplomat clarified that the Russian authorities demanded that only employees of the media company who work in Russia on a permanent basis be accredited.
Earlier, Zakharova called Deutsche Welle a NATO propaganda machine. She noted that the German TV channel is funded from the state budget of Germany. The fact that the American Foreign Ministry supports him speaks for itself, the representative of the Foreign Ministry added.
On February 3, Russia announced sanctions against Deutsche Welle. The authorities announced the closure of the organization’s correspondent point and the cancellation of the accreditation of all employees of the Deutsche Welle Russian bureau. In addition, the Russian Foreign Ministry intends to initiate a procedure for considering the recognition of DW as a foreign agent.
