The Tagansky Court of Moscow fined Twitter, Telegram and Facebook in total 35 million rubles. This was reported in the Telegram channel of Moscow courts of general jurisdiction.
All three companies were found guilty of violating Part 4 and Part 2 of Art. 13.41 of the Administrative Code (violation of the procedure for restricting access to information, information resources, access to which is subject to restriction in accordance with Russian legislation). According to the court ruling, Facebook was fined 21 million rubles, Telegram – 9 million rubles, and Twitter – 5 million rubles.
In early September, the Tagansky Magistrate's Court threatened the same three companies with fines totaling 72 million rubles if they did not remove the prohibited content. They wanted to collect 40 million rubles from Facebook for this, and 16 million rubles from Telegram and Twitter. The meeting was scheduled for September 14th.
This is not the first time that Facebook, Telegram and Twitter in Russia have been brought to administrative responsibility for “refusing to remove content prohibited by law.” So, in June, the court appointed Telegram and Facebook fines of 10 and 17 million rubles. respectively. It was not reported which records caused the fine.
In May of this year, the court issued a fine to Facebook for similar violations in the amount of 26 million rubles. Telegram was fined 5 million rubles in the same month. Another 9.5 million rubles. in Russia, Twitter was fined, which later, together with Facebook, appealed against its fines, but the court did not satisfy the demands of IT companies.
