Aid package for Ukraine in the amount of 39.8 billion dollars in the lower house of the US Parliament can vote on May 10.
In the US House of Representatives, the Democrats propose to vote for the package assistance to Ukraine for 39.8 billion dollars on Tuesday, May 10. Previously, President Joe Biden asked lawmakers to agree on $33 billion in aid as soon as possible.
This is reported by Bloomberg.
According to the publication, lawmakers increased the president's preliminary request, providing for an additional 3, $4 billion for military assistance and another $3.4 billion for humanitarian aid.
The decision to quickly agree on assistance was made after the White House said that there would be enough money for arms supplies to Ukraine until the third week May.
To speed up the process, the House of Representatives agreed to vote on this document separately from Biden's other request for money to fight COVID-19. The next step should be a vote in the Senate.
However, this aid package has not yet been agreed upon by the Republicans. In order to be supported by the Senate (upper house of parliament), at least ten votes of Republican senators are needed.
Recall that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky told what additional assistance from the United States could be spent on.
