From the flooded areas of the Mexican state of Chiapas, located in the south of Mexico, rescuers with the help of the military have evacuated more than 500 people, according to the Ministry of the Republic's Navy.
“The servicemen helped to evacuate 533 local residents, as well as 20 families of immigrants from Guatemala,” the ministry said in a statement.
In addition, the Mexican military installed a field kitchen, distributed almost two thousand liters of drinking water to people and delivered about 27 tons of food to the areas affected by the unprecedented flood, TASS reports.
Recall, as the website kp.ru wrote, floods in the east and southeast of Mexico caused by prolonged heavy rains resulted in the death of at least 30 people. Search and rescue operations continue on the ground.
The consequences of the disaster affected more than 238 thousand residents of three states – Tabasco, Chiapas and Veracruz. In total, more than 500 residential areas were flooded, tens of thousands of houses were damaged.
