Scientists in Tunisia have identified over 40 different strains of coronavirus over the course of the pandemic. This was announced by the official representative of the country's Ministry of Health, Nissaf bin Alaya, on the air of the Mosaïque FM radio station, TASS reports.
According to the minister, the mutations were found during analyzes and research in the country. They all have “normal origins” as they are similar to the original strain, she added. At the same time, the mutation previously discovered in the UK does not occur in Tunisia.
A dangerous mutation of the coronavirus, which is spreading faster than usual, was first discovered in the UK in September. To date, about a thousand cases of infection with the new strain have been identified. The mutation has also been identified in patients in the Netherlands, Denmark, Australia and Italy, Germany and Switzerland.
