In the course of the survey, 42% of Russians admitted that they are addicted to the Internet. 11% are unequivocally sure that they are in the captivity of the Network, 31% are rather sure of this. 58% of respondents deny their dependence on digital devices and the Internet, but unequivocally – only 24%. The study was conducted by the Superjob portal from June 1 to June 17, 2021, 1600 respondents from 220 settlements of Russia took part in it.
The survey showed that women are slightly more likely than men to become dependent on gadgets and the Internet – 43 versus 40%. The respondents over 45 years old are less likely to suffer from digital addiction (32%).
More than half of Russians (54%) never consciously refuse to use the Internet. Only one in five (21%) takes a break from the Internet and gadgets every day for some time. Every tenth person rests once a week, 10% – once a month, another 4% – several times a year. Women are more likely than men to say they are doing a daily digital detox (24% versus 18%).
Earlier, experts from the NAFI analytical center found that Russians spend an average of six hours a day at computers, smartphones and tablets. Against the backdrop of the pandemic, the “screen time” of the Russian user has increased: since the spring of 2020, 43% of the country's residents have begun to use digital devices more often.
Also “Secret” reported that experts recorded the gradual refusal of Russians from SMS-messages. In the first quarter of 2021, the number of SMS sent to each other decreased by 10% year-on-year. Compared to January – March 2019, the drop was even more significant – 41%. As noted by mobile operators, smartphone owners communicate mainly through instant messengers.
