More than two billion rubles were allocated for the construction of the Russian astrophysical space observatory Spektr-M. This is stated in the materials of the state corporation “Roscosmos” posted on the website of state purchases.
2.2 billion rubles will be spent on the creation and testing of the on-board complex of scientific equipment for the space telescope and the ground-based scientific complex. The work is scheduled to be completed by November 2025.
In 2015-17, 1.36 billion rubles were allocated for the creation of Spectra-M, and in 2017-2021, two billion rubles were allocated for these purposes.
The Spektr-M observatory with a ten-meter space telescope will be used to study the objects of the Universe in the millimeter and infrared ranges. With its help, scientists want to get information about the global structure of the Universe, the structure and evolution of galaxies, and more.
Earlier, the head of the state corporation Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, said that the cost of creating the Sphere satellite system would amount to 800 billion rubles, 500 billion of which would be extra-budgetary funding. At the end of 2020, he announced the allocation of 7 billion rubles from the budget to start work on the creation of a satellite constellation.
