More than 10 ships in Japan were capsized or sunk after the tsunami. It is reported by REN TV with reference to local media.

Another ship swept into the open ocean. The ports of Kochi prefecture on the Japanese island of Shikoku were hit hardest by the storm.

Earlier it was reported that more than 210 thousand people in Japan received a strong recommendation to leave their homes due to the threat of a tsunami. The country's authorities issued a corresponding order after a powerful underwater eruption of the Hunga Haapai volcano in the state of Tonga.

The tsunami brought waves over a meter high. A second tide with even larger waves is not ruled out. There is no information about the victims.
