In Lviv, by order of the local authorities, they began to dismantle the Monument of Glory to the Soviet Army, opened in 1970.
“Last year, the city executive committee decided to hold an architectural competition for the territory where the Glory Monument is now located. We also have a decision on the phased dismantling of the elements of the monument. For this, funds were allocated in the city budget, ”TASS quotes the press service of the first deputy mayor of the city Andrei Moskalenko.
The authorities indicated that the dismantling of the bas-reliefs is now underway, after which they will be transported to the Territory of Terror museum. Then the dismantling of the slabs of the monument will begin.
The Stela of the Monument of Glory was recognized by the executive committee of the Lviv City Council as emergency in 2018 and decided to dismantle it.
Earlier it was reported that a suspect in stealing a gun from a Soviet memorial was found in Latvia.
