Formula 1 thought of the late Prince Philip before qualifying for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Drivers, team bosses and other staff gathered in front of the garages in Imola on Saturday and kept a minute's silence for the husband of Queen Elizabeth II. Philip, who died the previous week and was officially known in Great Britain as the Duke of Edinburgh because of his title, will be buried at Windsor Castle on Saturday afternoon.
Out of consideration for the funeral service, qualifying at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari was brought forward by one hour from originally 3 p.m. to 2 p.m. Seven out of ten Formula 1 racing teams are based in England.
