Millionaire city to be quarantined due to a single case of COVID-19

New Zealand's largest city with a population of one million, Auckland, will be quarantined after a confirmed case of a 21-year-old man has been infected with the coronavirus. Reported by Reuters.

The announcement was made by New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Saturday 27 February. According to her, “there is cause for concern,” since the person who was confirmed to be infected did not observe the isolation regime for a week. For example, he visited a doctor and then went to the gym.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, entry and exit from cities with a population of more than 1.6 million will be closed. Residents are not allowed to leave their homes, with the exception of trips to groceries, the pharmacy, or work. The rest of the country is banned from holding mass events.

In January, Switzerland proposed introducing a ban on bans due to coronavirus. Members of the Friends of the Constitution collected a large number of signatures to hold a referendum to deprive the Confederation of the right to impose isolation and other coronavirus restrictions.
