Within the framework of the MAKS-2021 exhibition, the Sukhoi aviation holding presented the latest Russian fighter – The Checkmate. But, as it turned out, another domestic company is already preparing its response to this development.
We are talking about a fifth-generation fighter “authored” by the MiG aircraft-building corporation, according to the Military Review. The key difference between this solution and The Checkmate should be that it will be deck-mounted.
Interestingly, even insiders have appeared, reporting that MiG wants to develop not just a carrier-based fighter, but a whole complex. In addition to the aircraft itself, it will also include a special drone.
At the time of this writing, the development is at the stage of computer modeling. It is expected that the first prototypes will be presented in the coming years.
