Microsoft will pay a one-time bonus to its employees in the US and other countries in recognition of their work in the pandemic. Employees of the IT giant will receive $ 1,500 each in July or August. The bonus is awarded to all employees. According to preliminary calculations, the total amount of payments for 175,000 people will exceed $ 200 million.
The corporate document, which was cited by the publication Verge, states that the bonus is due to all Microsoft employees below the position of vice president. Even those who work part-time or for hourly wages will get it. The only condition is official employment with the company no later than March 31, 2021.
The one-time payment is being made “in conjunction with this unprecedented and challenging fiscal year that Microsoft has just wrapped up,” the document says. The company previously gave workers five extra days off to prevent burnout.
Microsoft chief HR officer Kathleen Hogan told CNBC that bonuses are not awarded to employees of Microsoft subsidiaries: GitHub, LinkedIn and Zenimax.
