Microsoft has begun to force the installation of the latest update on Windows computers. It is reported by the Bleeping Computer edition.
According to company materials, Microsoft has launched the process of upgrading computers to Windows 10 version 20H2. The updates will be installed on top of a large number of operating system versions that are nearing the end of their service life. Updates are rolled out incrementally and driven by machine learning. “We are increasing the number of devices that are nearing completion of servicing for automatic updates to Windows 10 version 20H2,” the corporation said in a statement.
The company also explained that the process of deploying updates is phased in order to ensure a “smart and hassle-free” transition of users to new versions of the OS. Microsoft plans to update Windows 10 versions 1809, 1909 and Windows Server version 1909 soon.
“Microsoft typically begins its machine learning update rollout process several months before the OS servicing end date to provide enough time for a smooth transition,” John Cable, director of Windows servicing, told reporters. The operating system will notify the user before updating.
Earlier, analysts from AdDuplex named the most popular versions of Windows 10 at the beginning of 2021. Windows 10 May 2020 Update or Windows 10 (2004) took the first place, the current version of the OS – Windows 20H2 – took the third line.
