The American corporation Microsoft announced a reduction of the commission to 12% for PC games in the Windows Store. The new terms will take effect on August 1, 2021 for PC games only, not Xbox consoles.
Previously, the company took a commission of 30%, standard for the digital store market, but the situation began to change. In 2018, Steam, the largest digital distribution service for games, announced a change in its commission policy: the company will take 30% each for games with revenue less than $ 10 million, 25% for those with revenue under $ 50 million, and 20% from those with income above $ 50 million. In 2018, the Epic Games Store service was launched, which announced a commission of 12%. In November 2020, Apple announced a decrease in the App Store commission to 15% for developers whose annual income does not exceed $ 1 million. In March 2021, Google announced a decrease in commission to 15% on the first $ 1 million earned by a developer in the Play Store.
