Microsoft started removing Flash from Windows

Microsoft has released an update that removes Adobe Flash Player (AFP). This is reported by the Windows Latest edition.

The journalists noticed that the company began rolling out a minor update KB4577586, one of the main purposes of which is to remove inactive components from the system. In particular, the update will clean the OS of Adobe Flash Player and software traces. The update will be available to all users through the Update Center over the next few weeks.

The authors noted that KB4577586 is an optional update, but it is installed automatically when checking for fresh Windows updates. The installation process takes no more than five minutes, after which the OS will ask the user to restart the computer. Restarting Flash Player and all Adobe software components will be removed from the system.

After installing KB4577586, Flash Player cannot be returned to your computer. At the same time, the update from Microsoft does not remove AFP components that were previously installed in third-party applications, such as browsers.

The journalists emphasized that some Windows system components functioned with Flash Player. However, Microsoft experts are getting rid of outdated software, in particular, they have already disabled AFP support in their Edge browser.

Adobe Flash is a multimedia platform used for creating banner ads, animations, games, audio and video playback. Adobe ended support for the software on December 31, 2020. The first version of Flash Player appeared on January 1, 1996.
