Microsoft has introduced mandatory vaccinations for office workers. As of September 2021, all employees, suppliers, and visitors to US offices of a corporation are required to present a COVID-19 vaccination certificate. For visitors who do not get vaccinated due to contraindications and other valid reasons, separate admission rules will be established. Previously, mandatory vaccinations were announced on Google and Facebook.
The company will resume full office operations no earlier than October 4, Microsoft executives said in a letter that The Verge cited. The company will adjust the dates if necessary.
Employees caring for immunocompromised people or raising young children will be able to work from home until January 2022.
Other IT giants have already introduced mandatory vaccinations in their offices. Facebook announced this at the end of July. Google planned to open offices in September, but postponed the official return of workers to October 18 and demanded that they be vaccinated.
Large corporations deal with the pandemic in different ways. Streaming service Netflix became the first major studio in Hollywood to mandate actors and professionals to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Disney intends to vaccinate 100% of full-time employees. And Walmart has announced that vaccinated employees will receive a $ 150 bonus.
