It became known about Microsoft's anti-piracy system based on the Ethereum blockchain. Its users will be able to anonymously report illegal programs, pictures and music, as well as receive a reward for this.
This system is a joint project of Microsoft, Alibaba and Carnegie Mellon University. It is called Argus. The system allows tracing the original source of pirated content, relying on a special digital watermark algorithm. Argus works with software, images and audio.
According to the researchers, the system can work with different types of files: images, audio or programs.
The system will not allow enterprising citizens to cash in on complaints. The user will not be able to report the same illegal file sharing several times using different nicknames.
It is not yet clear when the system will officially launch.
