Microsoft has officially announced the death of the Edge browser. This was reported on the company's website.
The corporation's specialists recalled that the end of support for the outdated version of the browser ends on March 9, 2021. The company said that the Microsoft Edge Legacy built into Windows will stop receiving updates and security updates from this day. We've also stopped supporting desktop apps for Edge.
The message says that the buried browser will be removed from Windows gradually through an update. The first wave of updates is scheduled for April 13, the update will be received by users of Windows 10 versions 1803, 1809, 1903, 1909, 2004, 20H2. The engineers clarified that the legacy Microsoft Edge Legacy will be removed automatically, so that only the new version of Edge will remain in the memory of computers based on the Microsoft operating system.
In conclusion, the engineers of the corporation separately thanked the business representatives who use the solutions from Microsoft. “With the new Microsoft Edge, we're excited to be working with customers to redefine the modern browser for business,” it said.
In early March, journalists recalled that in the coming days, Microsoft will deactivate the classic Edge browser. The statement says that after installing a new patch for Windows, the old version of Edge will be removed from the system. Microsoft warned users to ditch Edge Legacy in August 2020.
