The Federated States of Micronesia sent a note to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the severance of diplomatic relations. This was written by the official representative of the department Maria Zakharova in her Telegram channel.
According to her, the republic made this decision under pressure from Washington, using Russia's military operation in Donbass as a pretext.
“The United States again needed Micronesia to protect neo-Nazism in Ukraine and support the Nazi regime in Kyiv,” Zakharova wrote.
Micronesia has had the status of an independent state since 1986, before that the country was considered a “freely associated territory with the United States.” Washington, according to local law, is still involved in the financing and security of the republic.
Earlier it became known that Ukraine decided to maintain consular relations with Russia, despite the break in diplomatic relations. The country's authorities assured that such a step was necessary to protect the rights of Ukrainians on the territory of the “aggressor country”.
