A helicopter crash site discovered in Russia Mi-8 in Lake Onega.

In Karelia, rescuers from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations on snowmobiles and hovercraft examined the water area near the village of Derevyannoye. The wreckage of the helicopter was found 11 kilometers from the coast at a depth of 50 meters.
An operational headquarters and a commission to investigate the accident have been created. More than 140 specialists and 33 pieces of equipment were involved in the work, as well as divers from the Leader special risk rescue operations center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations with a diving allowance of up to 60 meters. Work underwater will be carried out using the remote-controlled underwater vehicle “Falcon” (immersion depth up to 300 meters).
They say that the helicopter was led by an experienced crew with thousands of flight hours. “During their work at the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, specialists were repeatedly involved in the search and rescue of people,” the message says.
“This Mi-8 has been in operation since 2004 and was registered with the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The fate of the crew members is still unknown. Previously, they all died,” the media reports.
