Former goalkeeper of the Russian national team Ilya Bryzgalov criticized the organizers of the World Youth Hockey Championship (MFM). His words are quoted by “Championship.com”.
The 41-year-old expert believes that there is no point in holding such tournaments during the coronavirus. He also called for the organization of the World Youth Championship in North Korea. “The MFM should have been held there, there is no coronavirus in the DPRK. And for the sake of this, Kim Jong-un would organize one channel for broadcasting, ”he added.
On December 29, it was decided to cancel the further holding of the youth ice hockey world championship. The reason is the outbreak of coronavirus in several teams at once. Initially, the MFM was supposed to end on January 5. On December 30, the President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Luc Tardiff proposed to postpone the tournament until the summer.
On December 28, Russian hockey players played with rivals from Switzerland. The Russian youth team won 4: 2.
No coronavirus cases have been reported in the DPRK, according to official government figures. However, the South Korean Daily NK claims that there are more than 300 COVID-19 cases and more than 200 deaths in the country.
