Mexico has signed a contract for the supply of the Russian vaccine “Sputnik V”
The Mexican authorities have signed a contract for the supply of the Russian vaccine against COVID-19 “Sputnik V”. This was stated at a press conference by Deputy Minister of Health Hugo Lopez-Gatell, reports TASS.
“Yesterday, [Health Minister Jorge] Alcocer signed an agreement regarding Sputnik V,” the official said.
Lopez-Gattel also added that in the near future it is expected to issue a permit for the emergency use of the Russian vaccine in the country.
It is noted that more than 1.86 million people have been infected with the coronavirus in Mexico since the beginning of the pandemic. 159 110 patients died, over 1.45 million people recovered.
On December 24, 2020, the country began vaccination of medical personnel against COVID-19. At the moment, the authorities have used more than 675 thousand doses of the drug manufactured by the American company Pfizer.
Earlier, the scientific journal The Lancet published the results of the third phase of clinical trials of the Russian vaccine against COVID-19 Sputnik V.
