German Chancellor Angela Merkel has pledged to be vaccinated against the coronavirus when her turn comes as part of the vaccination campaign. She spoke about this in her New Year's address to citizens, reports Reuters.
Merkel said that every day there are more and more vaccinated people in the country, and more and more different age and professional groups of the population receive vaccinations. She stressed that over time, anyone will be able to supply the vaccine.
On December 27, vaccination with the drug from Pfizer and BioNTech began in the European Union (EU) countries. In Germany, top priority is given to those over 80, residents and nursing home staff, and nursing staff. Merkel is in the third priority group, which includes citizens over 60 years old.
Earlier, Joe Biden, who was elected to the presidency of the United States, was vaccinated against the coronavirus. The 78-year-old politician was vaccinated with a drug from Pfizer and BioNTech at ChristianaCare Hospital in Newark, Delaware.
