The American president is interested in establishing communication between the defense departments of the United States and China.

National Security Advisor to the US President Jake Sullivan said that during the meeting between Joe Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, which will take place on November 15, the main topic will be the resumption of military ties between the two countries at the highest level.

He spoke about this on Sunday, November 12, on the Face the Nation program on the American television channel CBS.

“The President is determined to restore military ties. He believes that military-to-military communication is essential to ensure that competition does not escalate into conflict,” said Jake Sullivan.

Biden adviser says the US is seeking to establish lines of communication both at the highest level between the Pentagon and the Chinese Department of Defense, and at the tactical and operational level, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region, so that there are “no mistakes, miscalculations or miscommunications.” .

Jake Sullivan also said the two leaders will discuss Iran, particularly “the issue of Iran's nuclear program and the threat that it poses… and the threat that Iran poses to regional stability and the threat that it poses to American forces in the region.” .

It was previously reported that Biden and Xi will meet next week in San Francisco on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. This will be the second face-to-face meeting between the two leaders since Biden's election in 2020. And this will be Xi Jinping's first visit to the United States since 2017.

Recall that US President Joe Biden recently warned China that the United States will defend the Philippines in the event of any attack in the South China Sea. In response, Beijing said that the United States does not have the right to do this.
