The British publication suggests that the inclusion of relatives of high-ranking officials, in particular Putin himself, will cause anger in the Kremlin
The European Commission proposes to introduce the 12th anti-war package of sanctions against Moscow, which will affect many individuals, among them the son of Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev and a relative of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The British edition of The Guardian reported this on Thursday, November 16.
Among the 47 people whom the commission wants to add to the current sanctions lists is the daughter of Putin’s cousin Anna Tsivileva, the wife of the governor of the Kemerovo region of the Russian Federation, who heads the “Defenders of the Fatherland” foundation, which supports Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine.
Also on the expanded list is Ilya Medvedev, whose name and date of birth coincide with the name and date of birth of the only son of the Russian ex-president. He is accused of organizing a disinformation and propaganda campaign in Ukraine.
The British publication suggests that the inclusion of relatives of high-ranking Russian officials, in particular Putin himself, will cause anger in the Kremlin.
Let us recall that on November 15, the European Commission handed over to the Council of the EU a draft 12th package of sanctions against Russia for the war against Ukraine. The European Commission proposes to extend sanctions to another 120 people and companies that played a role “in undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”
