Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva held her first training session under the guidance of Eteri Tutberidze. On Wednesday, September 16, with reference to the words of the director of the sports and education center “Sambo-70” Renat Laishev, TASS reports.
“These are the first steps, and they must be accurate, careful,” said Laishev. He also noted that none of the athletes who left the group were “ordered back”. In his opinion, Medvedeva's cooperation with Tutberidze will be fully restored.
Earlier, on September 16, it became known about the decision of 20-year-old Medvedeva to return to the Tutberidze group. Details of a possible transition are still unknown. Prior to that, the Russian figure skater trained in Canada under the guidance of local specialist Brian Orser.
Medvedeva moved from Tutberidze to Orser in the summer of 2018 after losing to compatriot Alina Zagitova in the individual tournament of the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang. In addition to the silver medal of the Games under the leadership of Tutberidze, Medvedeva twice won the World Championship, Europe and the Grand Prix final. With Orser, she won the bronze medal of the 2019 world championship.
