Media: Twitch source code and payout data published online

by alex

NEW YORK, October 6. / TASS /. An unknown user posted on the network the source code of the Twitch streaming service and information about payments to content authors. This was announced on Wednesday by the portal The Verge.

A link to download files with a total size of 125 GB was placed in the public domain. The data includes the source code of the Twitch site, including its earlier versions, applications for mobile phone, computer and game consoles, as well as information about payments to authors of video content published since 2019.

The Verge confirms that the files are genuine and that the code matches what was used this week.

According to the portal, the attacker said that he decided to take such a step because of the “toxicity” of the platform community and for the sake of “stimulating competition” among streaming services. The portal suggests that Twitch may have been hacked.

The Verge notes that the published files do not contain passwords or other information about Twitch users, but this does not mean that such data did not fall into the hands of an attacker. Since the initiator of the leak called his publication only “the first part”, the publication of other information may follow, the Internet publication believes.

According to Video Games Chronicle, Twitch is aware of the data breach.
